Wytrychowanie / Lockpicking - Piotr Bujak

Curated by Arata Hasegawa, this is the first institutional solo presentation of Piotr Bujak’s work in Krakow. Active primarily in Japan for nearly a decade, the artist has developed an original working model based on reinterpreted Low Budget, Do-It-Yourself, Quick and Dirty and Hit-and-Run strategies.

Curated by Arata Hasegawa, the exhibition will be the first institutional solo presentation of Piotr Bujak’s work in Kraków. For nearly a decade, the artist was active primarily in Japan - participating, for example, in Tokyo Biennale 2025 - where he continued developing an original working model based on reinterpreted Low Budget, Do-It-Yourself, Quick and Dirty, and Hit-And-Run strategies.

Bujak employs tactics of error, provisionality, improvisation, and the institutional “lockpick,” approaching his activities as tools for negotiating systems of visibility and social codes. His projects operate through an aesthetic of temporariness, examining relationships between everyday structures of reality-making and mechanisms of cultural adaptation.

What to expect

The exhibition brings together works in which Bujak deploys tactics of error, provisionality and improvisation, examining the everyday structures through which reality is organised and the mechanisms of cultural adaptation. It is a concise solo presentation by an artist bridging the Polish and Japanese art contexts.
