What to expect

The Electronics Museum in Krakow is a hands-on collection of Polish and international electronics and cult video games from past decades, built around one idea: you can touch everything. There is no glass and there are no barriers - the machines are switched on and ready to use, so visiting means playing, flipping switches and listening rather than reading labels behind a case. Around forty stations run classic video games, and a guide to the exhibition is included in the ticket price at no extra cost.

The collection walks through several decades of consumer technology: a Pong console replica, Atari systems, Nintendo consoles, Commodore and ZX Spectrum computers, a set of Vela televisions, vintage telephones, tape recorders and gramophones. For an international visitor this is a light, playful stop rather than a formal museum - a good option if you are travelling with children, curious about the pre-smartphone era, or want a break from Krakow’s churches and galleries. Little language is needed: the appeal is in using the machines, not in the captions.

Visiting in practice

Opening hours are Tuesday to Thursday 15:00-20:00, Friday 13:00-20:00, and Saturday to Sunday 11:00-20:00; the museum is closed on Mondays, with last entry at 19:00. A standard ticket is 40 PLN, reduced (children aged 4-16) 30 PLN, and children under 4 enter free. Family tickets are available (2+2 for 120 PLN, 2+3 for 150 PLN), and “8 bit” and “16 bit” season passes are sold on-site only. Private guided visits for groups of up to 7 people (2 hours, 300 PLN) can be booked by phone outside regular hours. Visits are self-paced, so allow as much or as little time as the games hold your attention.

Getting there

The museum is at Wrocławska 8, in the Krowodrza district, northwest of the Old Town. From the Main Square it is roughly a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk through the Planty park and past the Nowy Kleparz market; the nearest tram stops are at Nowy Kleparz. It is also convenient if you are approaching from the direction of the main railway station.
