What to expect

The Aleksander Kłosiński Museum is a small regional museum run by the town of Kęty, occupying a townhouse right on the Rynek (market square) at the centre of town. It is named after Aleksander Kłosiński, a local collector whose lifelong gathering of objects tied to Kęty and its surroundings became the core of the museum’s holdings.

The collection spans history, archaeology, ethnography, art and technology, telling the story of Kęty and the Silesian-Lesser Poland borderland. Rather than one large permanent gallery, the museum works mostly through rotating and temporary exhibitions, backed by workshops and talks. For an international visitor this is a niche local-history stop rather than a headline attraction: worth it if you are already exploring the region and curious about small-town Polish heritage, but not a reason in itself to leave Kraków. Note that displays and labels are geared to a Polish audience, so English-language material is limited.

Visiting in practice

The museum opens Tuesday to Sunday, closed Mondays and Saturdays. Hours are 10:00-15:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday, 12:00-17:00 on Thursday, 10:00-15:00 on Friday, and 10:00-14:00 on Sunday. A standard ticket is 8 PLN and a reduced ticket 4 PLN, with free admission on Sundays; a guided tour carries an extra 15 PLN fee. Allow under an hour to see the exhibition at an easy pace.

Getting there

Kęty sits in the Lesser Poland (Małopolska) region roughly 55 km west/south-west of Kraków, midway between Oświęcim and Bielsko-Biała. The museum is at Rynek 16, on the main square in the town centre. By car it is about an hour heading west from Kraków; the town is also served by regional trains and buses, with the station and stops only a few minutes’ walk from the Rynek. This is a day-trip destination, not a walkable extension of central Kraków.
