What to expect

Kraków Arcade Museum is an interactive video game museum that, according to its owners, holds the largest arcade collection in Poland - over 150 classic cabinets from the 1980s and 1990s. The key thing for a visitor to know is that nothing here sits behind glass: every machine is working and fully playable, and your ticket covers unlimited games for the time you have bought. It is hands-on entertainment rather than a look-and-read exhibition.

For an international traveller in Krakow this is a rainy-afternoon or with-kids option rather than a heritage stop, and it works best if you actually want to play - families, groups and anyone nostalgic for the pre-console arcade era get the most out of it. The venue also runs birthday parties and group bookings, so weekend evenings can get busy with organised events.

Visiting in practice

The museum is open daily: Monday to Thursday 10:00-21:00, Friday until 22:00, Saturday 11:00-22:00, and Sunday 11:00-20:00. Admission is sold by playing time rather than as a single entry: one hour costs 70 PLN (students 60, reduced 50), two hours 90 PLN, and an open, unlimited ticket 100 PLN. Family tickets (2 adults + 2 children) and a 10-visit pass are also available, and children under four enter free with a paying adult. Plan your visit around the package you buy - anything from an hour to a full afternoon. All the games are language-neutral, so no Polish is needed to enjoy them.

Getting there

The museum is at Centralna 41a in the Czyżyny district, in the eastern part of Krakow, well away from the Main Square. The easiest way over is by tram - lines 1 and 14 stop nearby, and the ride from the Old Town takes roughly fifteen to twenty minutes. If you are driving, there is free parking for more than 100 vehicles, which is unusual at this scale in Krakow.

Nearby

Fans of retro play should also visit the Krakow Pinball Museum and its playable pinball collection. This side of the city is the former Rakowice-Czyżyny airfield, home to the Polish Aviation Museum with one of Europe’s largest aircraft collections, while the Museum of Engineering and Technology rounds out the technology theme.
