What to expect

The Polonia Wax Museum is a commercial family attraction on Floriańska Street, billed by its owners as the largest wax figures exhibition in Poland. Inside you will meet lifelike waxworks of well-known politicians, clergy, sportspeople and actors, alongside fictional characters and cartoon favourites such as Mr Bean. The figures are made with an eye for detail, so the appeal is visual and photo-friendly rather than text-heavy, which makes it easy to enjoy without reading Polish captions.

Set expectations accordingly: this is entertainment aimed at families and casual visitors, not a curated historical museum. The display is refreshed from time to time, and some figures rotate between the Krakow venue and a sister branch in Zakopane, so the exact line-up can vary depending on when you visit.

Visiting in practice

Opening hours are generous and late: Monday to Thursday 10:00-22:00, and Friday and Saturday 10:00-23:00, making this one of the few Krakow attractions you can visit after dinner. Adult admission is 59 PLN, reduced 49 PLN, children under 5 enter free, and groups of more than 9 pay 33 PLN per person. Tickets are sold online and at the door; it is worth asking about seasonal promotions, especially at weekends. A visit is short and self-paced, so it slots easily into an evening in the Old Town.

Getting there

The museum sits at Floriańska 32, on the main pedestrian street of the Old Town that runs from the medieval Floriańska Gate and Barbican down to the Main Square (Rynek Główny) - the Rynek is about a five-minute walk away. The nearest tram stops ring the Planty park, and from Kraków Główny railway station it is a walk of roughly fifteen minutes. The street is pedestrianised, so you cannot drive up to the entrance.

A few doors away at Floriańska 25 is the Pharmacy Museum, set in historic apothecary interiors. Toward the square you reach the Czartoryski Museum with Leonardo’s Lady with an Ermine, while beneath the Main Square itself lies the Rynek Underground archaeological route.
