What to expect

Womai - Science and Senses Centre is a hands-on venue built around a single idea: get to know the world through all five senses rather than just looking at it. The name is an acronym for “World Of My All Inspirations,” and the whole experience nudges visitors to perceive reality from angles they normally overlook. If you have already seen Krakow’s historic museums and want something interactive and unusual, this is a strong option, particularly with children or as a change of pace from Old Town sightseeing.

There are two main routes. “Towards Light” explores optics, illusions and the way the brain reads what the eyes report. “Towards Darkness” leads you through a space with no light at all, where you navigate by touch, sound and smell alone - the most memorable part of the visit, guiding you through the world as blind and visually impaired people experience it. That mission runs deep here: the centre, open since October 2019, employs a large team of blind and visually impaired staff who guide the tours. Every visit is guided, and depending on which attractions you pick it lasts anywhere from one to four hours. The guides work primarily in Polish, so it is worth asking about English support when you book if your group needs it.

Visiting in practice

Womai is open Monday to Friday 10:00-18:00, Saturday 11:00-20:00 and Sunday 10:00-19:00; during the Polish school year, weekday hours shift earlier to 8:30-16:30 to accommodate school groups. Tickets are booked online for a specific entry time, and because tours are scheduled and gather at a set hour, advance booking is strongly recommended - arrive about ten minutes early. Children under two enter free, and there are dedicated slots for under-sixes on the “Towards Light” route. The interiors are indoors and climate-controlled, lockers are available, and payment is accepted by card, BLIK and cash. The venue is accessible for people with disabilities, who together with their carers receive a 20% discount.

Getting there

Womai sits at ul. Pawia 34, right beside Kraków Główny, the city’s main railway and bus station, and the Galeria Krakowska shopping centre, on the north-eastern edge of the Old Town. From the Main Square (Rynek Główny) it is about a ten-minute walk through the Planty park, and from the station just a few minutes - one of the best-connected addresses in the city, with a tram hub and stops right outside.
